Kaikia

-Greek fishing boats

The EU pays bonuses to Greek fishermen if they scrap their wooden boats and give up their jobs. Meant to help stem against overfishing in the Mediterranean, the offer is threatening a traditional craft.

We have to prevent our history from being destroyed

One of the first things you notice when

you visit Greece are the famous Kaikia,

tied at the ports. For hundreds of years

those boats are build by hand, used by

the greek fisherman and decorate every

port in Greece.

According to recent findings the kaikia (the way they are used for fishing) damages the marine life therefore the European Union is giving bonuses to destroy them.

Our mission is to stop those ships from being destroyed and repurpose them. Give them to Marine museums or use them for tourist.

We understand the damage kaikia cause to the marine life. Therefore our mission is to stop the kaikia from being used for fishing but also from being destroyed.
